Speak The Word

A centurion came to Jesus with a personal need, his servant was home sick. Instead of asking for prayer as we normally do, he asked Jesus to meet the need in a completely different way. What was that and why?

The centurion wouldn’t have come to Jesus with a need unless he knew the need would be met. He knew Jesus would meet the need because he heard the many testimonies of his healings . He also understood a truth that most people did not understand, Jesus was a man under authority.

He knew Jesus was under the authority of a higher power or He wouldn’t be doing what He was doing. Being a man under authority himself he knew that the power people were seeing was coming from the one who sent him. He understood John 1:1 and 14. The word was God (the word is the authority that Jesus was under). The word (Jesus) was with god and the word became flesh. The word is the power behind Jesus. He represented the word and the word manifested in power through Him.

So when the centurion came to Jesus he said, since your the word operating under the authority of the word just do what the one who sent you does. He spoke and the world’s came into existence so you speak and my servant will be healed. Psalm 107:20,He sent his word and healed them. Jesus response to this man was, “ I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

The disciples learned this truth. In acts 3 we find Peter saying to the lame man, rise and be healed and the lame man rose. I’m not saying don’t pray . What I am saying is realize the power of God’s word when spoken even through your mouth. Jesus said in Mark 11:23 , whosoever shall say…
By faith realize how powerful god’s word is even when it’s spoken through your mouth.
